Thus, said PSSupt Ritchie Medardo Posadas as he disclosed the capture on June 2, 2017 of former policeman PO1 Aris Amposta, leader of the ?notorious? Amposta robbery-drug group, in his hide-out in the hinterland Dapdap Resettlement, Barangay Lourdes, Bamban town.
Posadas, the Tarlac police provincial director, said Amposta was apprehended in a " isolated mountainous community" based on a warrant of arrest issued by an Angeles City court for Robbery with Violence and Intimidation Against Person.
Amposta went into hiding since the warrant for his arrest was issued by Judge Eda Dizon-Herna of the Angeles City Regional Trial Court Branch 80 in September 21, 2015.
Posadas revealed the Amposta group were involved in a series of robbery, extortion and motornapping cases in Angeles City and other parts of Pampanga including distribution of illegal drugs in Pampanga and Tarlac.
Apparently, the robbery case was filed by a businessman from Angeles City against the 33 years old Amposta, along with another cop-on-AWOL ex-PO1 Roberto Bautista and 2 civilians, Jay-R Nasam Alias Buboy and Elmer ?Boyong? Nasam alias Bagalawis.
(Bautista and Jay-AR are still at large while Elmer was recently killed by unidentified gun men in Angeles City.)
.
Their victim was said to have been held up at gunpoint and robbed of his cash and valuables by Amposta and his group.
Posadas also disclosed, Amposta and his cohorts are also the subject of 2 other warrants of arrest ? another Robbery with Violence and/or Intimidation against Person case (January 19, 2016) and for Torture (Republic Act 9745 - Anti-Torture Act of 2009).
Amposta belongs to Philippine National Police Recruit batch 2007-2 and was last assigned with the Angeles City Public Safety Company (ACPSC).
He was dismissed from the PNP roll in January 2015. Two of the charges against him were filed during his active duty with the ACPSC.
?The capture of Amposta is the result of the trust and confidence we have established among the people and of our strengthened intelligence system. We are very determined to improve our capability to better serve the people and we will not allow the province (Tarlac) to be haven of any criminal?, said Posadas.
Since Posadas assumed as police provincial director last February, Posadas is credited for making the Tarlac Police Provincial Office (TTPO) the ?2nd Best police command in Central Luzon? after being adjudged as second to the least performing provincial office in Region 3.
The capture of Amposta was led by PCInsp Jovy Arceo, chief of police of Bamban.
Posadas also revealed that several pieces of ?chop-chop? motorcycle parts and tools for tampering motor and chassis numbers of motorcycles were seized at Amposta?s hide-out intoning that Amposta may also be involved in motornapping.
